About Floria Botanica —
Phyto-Structural Architecture
Floria Botanica is a Zürich-based phyto-structural architecture studio founded in 2019 with a single conviction: buildings and landscapes are not opposites — they are collaborators. We practice at the intersection of architecture, landscape design, and living systems, creating spaces that breathe, grow, and evolve long after the construction crew has left.
The term phyto-structural symbiosis describes our founding methodology. Rather than imposing geometry onto a site, we begin every project by studying the existing ecology — the species composition of the soil, the angle of prevailing light, the seasonal movement of water across the ground plane. Architecture emerges from these readings the way a tree grows from its seed: purposeful, site-specific, and in constant dialogue with its surroundings.
Our portfolio spans residential villas, cultural pavilions, commercial atriums, and institutional research facilities across eleven countries. Whether we are embedding a 200-year-old specimen tree into a Singapore office atrium or weaving native fern walls through a raw-concrete lakeside home in Lake Como, the ambition is the same: to make the boundary between the built environment and the wild landscape permanently invisible.
Material selection is central to this philosophy. We choose substances that age with dignity — weathered stone, patinating bronze, reclaimed oak, raw concrete that accepts moss as a collaborator rather than an enemy. Every surface is considered not only for its day-one appearance but for what it will become after twenty years of exposure to rain, sunlight, and the patient work of plants.
Sustainability at Floria Botanica is never a certification checklist. It is structural. Our projects integrate passive cooling, greywater recycling, rainwater harvesting, and habitat corridor design as load-bearing elements of the brief — as fundamental to the programme as square-meterage or structural spans.
We work with a small number of clients each year to ensure every project receives the full attention of the founding team. If you are considering a project that demands a genuine conversation between architecture and the living world, we would like to hear about it.
